Ms. Meghan Cerrone

Starting at a young age, I found painting, drawing and photography to be a positive, creative outlet. I knew I was always able to express myself through my artwork, even at times when words didn't come so naturally.  As an educator, I am determined to help others discover the benefits of creating art. Finding your passion can become challenging, but by experimenting with new materials, artists and artistic methods, it allows for there to be a discovery. I want to expose my students to as much as a possible, allowing for them to create their own personal opinions on which materials, styles and artists they enjoy. This year I plan on utilizing our convenience of being so close to one of the worlds many Artistically populated cities by visiting museums that allow for inquiry-based education to thrive. I find inspiration all around me and I LOVE to travel the world. I plan on teaching my students to really look around them and become an observer to the beautiful things both naturally and man-made. At East Elmhurst Community School, I am very excited for the opportunity to teach your children, as well as, learning from them.

Here's to a great year of ART-MAKING!

Ms. O is a member of a company called "Artist Year", where graduates with a Fine Arts background come into NYC's Public Schools to help empower our students. She is extremely passionate about art and how it can affect our society, especially in Elementary School. She has a background in Photography and with this has started EECS's first ever Photography Club. Our students are learning the makings of a camera, composition and what makes photography so special in our high-tech world we live in today.

Ms. O has been a great asset to our community with her high energy and love for all things art. She will be assisting Ms. Cerrone for the remainder of this School Year.
